What ThisDevTool Is

ThisDevTool is a library of 286 browser-based utilities built for recurring technical chores: formatting payloads, decoding tokens, cleaning text, generating markup, comparing content, converting formats, and checking edge cases before they become production mistakes. The goal is simple: reduce the number of tabs, SaaS trials, and sketchy utilities you have to trust just to finish small but necessary jobs.

Why It Exists

Too many free tool sites are thin wrappers around server calls, overloaded with ads, or clearly built to rank first and help second. ThisDevTool takes the opposite approach. The pages are meant to earn repeat use because they are fast, clear, and specific enough to be useful in real work.

Privacy by Default

For the core utility work on the site, processing happens locally in the browser. That means the things you actually care about keeping private, like code snippets, JSON payloads, regex patterns, JWTs, text, and uploaded files, are not being shipped to an unknown backend just to complete a simple task.

• Inputs stay local - most tool work is handled with built-in browser APIs instead of server-side processing
• No account required - you do not need to create a profile just to use a formatter, converter, or checker
• Transparent behavior - when a tool runs client-side, you can inspect the page source and verify what it is doing
• Useful when offline - many pages remain usable after the first load because the site caches core assets

We still use standard site infrastructure such as analytics, ads, and consent tooling, but those systems are not used to read or store the actual inputs you work with in the tools. See the Privacy Policy for the formal version.

A page belongs on ThisDevTool if it solves a real workflow problem cleanly: validating JSON, inspecting headers, generating schema, normalizing slugs, comparing text, transforming formats, checking accessibility, or handling similar jobs that technical people repeatedly run into. Repeat usefulness matters more than page count.

How We Review and Ship Tools

We maintain shared runtime code across the site instead of treating every page like a disconnected SEO stub. New pages are expected to make sense on their own, and updates are reviewed against representative tool flows and approval-critical pages before shipping. If a page is redundant, weak, or not useful enough, the right fix is to improve it, merge it, or remove it.

Free Without the Usual Friction

ThisDevTool is free to use. There is no premium tier blocking the basic utilities, no usage cap for normal work, and no login standing between you and the tool. Advertising helps keep the site running, but the product goal is still straightforward utility rather than bait-and-switch upsells.
