Devised by Sir Francis Bacon in 1605, the Baconian cipher represents each letter of the alphabet with a unique five-character sequence of A's and B's. For example, 'A' is AAAAA, 'B' is AAAAB, and so on. This system is functionally equivalent to a 5-bit binary encoding, where 'A' can be considered '0' and 'B' as '1'.
Bacon's original cipher used a 24-letter alphabet, combining I/J and U/V. This tool, however, uses a modern 26-letter alphabet, ensuring each letter has its own distinct 5-bit code.
